Inspiration for My Loo!

Yep! The bathroom is the current victim in this house!! I posted HORRIBLE photos of it here.

I've got just a couple more smaller projects left in there.

I'm excited to show you it when it's done {hopefully soon?}

Meanwhile, to keep me going, I'll show you what it's ending up looking like:

Promise real photos of my house is coming soon!!

Things never stay the same around here for long!!

I've found out the date I'll be able to return to work. Maci is doing better overall. Still lots of hurdles to jump through. I can't believe it's been over seven months since I've worked!

I still have another four weeks to get everything in order...well the DIY projects!!

Can I do it?

Hugs!

That Dresser, Shabby French for Me & Thank You!!!

I want to say a great big "Thank you" to Rachel from Shabby French For Me.
I was able to meet her and her husband on Saturday, when I went to pick up a dresser from her!
Such sweet people!
If you haven't seen her gorgeous home and blog...please do hop over for a visit!
My husband was on cloud nine when he found someone {Rachel's hubby} that could sympathize with him on our ever changing home decor!!

I just love the dresser in the girl's bedroom, it fits perfectly!

{our love of eiffel towers, and initials!!}

Now that I've redone/redoing the rest of the house, can't leave the girl's room out!! Thankfully their room is small....and shared, so a cute window treatment, bedding and a few small changes in art will make a huge difference!!

Also, Thank You to all you who are praying for my little girl, Maci. She is definitely a blessing, and it's been such a wonderful lesson of courage, strength and endurance these last seven months! God is working in her life {and ours!!}. We are so grateful and thankful for all His blessings and pray that His will be done!

Yet, another THANK YOU to all my readers who make blogging fun!! I cherish your notes and emails. I'm so blessed.

We've been so excited to have some gorgeous weather these last couple of days here in the Pacific Northwest!!
{the view I have from my bedroom :) Please excuse the power lines!!}

Well, I am off to go enjoy this beautiful sunshine, and wish you all a WONDERFUL Tuesday!!

Hugs!

The Last 6 Months...What Cancer Has Taught Us!

As I was washing dishes this morning...it dawned on me!!
Today is special for two different reasons:
  1. It's been 21 years since I've found Jesus...I was seven years old. Still remember that Sunday night very clearly!! It's been a wonderful life.
  2. Today marks six months since Maci was diagnosed. Wow! Tears are streaming down my face as I am writing this.

Our family has changed, grown, accepted, denied, learned....so much!
Six months??? What in the world! I was 27, Josh was 33...I remember {still think sometimes} thinking...We are all WAY to young to have a child with cancer!
Now? I'm proud! We are surviving, we are growing, we are changing, we are BECOMING stronger.

Please don't think this has been an easy past six months!!! It by far has been the toughest of my life {I'm sure Josh's too}.
We've been forced to depend, trust, wonder, pray where the money would come to pay normal living expenses. Thank GOD! He answers prayers. When He answers...He ANSWERS!!
Yeah! We've definitely learned:  With God ALL things are possible.

Amongst building faith, trusting in God, and heart lessons, we've also learned a few other things!!!

1) I've always enjoyed decorating...but I have become almost obsessed!! I have learned to repurpose, reuse, and recycle...and rediscovered my sewing machine. {LOVE crafting...plus the girls can help out..like the little felt hearts Maci and I made for Valentines Day!!}

2) I am amazed how much inspiration I've gotten from quotes, scriptures and songs. I've been down and out, then heard or read something and instantly I've felt better. {my ultimate favorites}:

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VP4OvUU-ZHU&feature=related]

3) We LOVE Purell!! I am addicted to the smell. I've tried off brands, other scents, but this is my ultimate favorite!! Also have accumulated lots of other disinfectants!! Germs are bad...

4) We've learned a lot about medicines...Maci has all of us beat by a long shot. That little girl has an arsenal!! This is just a few...home meds. I've had to keep them out, I've learned for me: if it's outta sight, it's outta mind! So putting them on a tray in the kitchen, seems to work for us.

5) See the presents on the floor?? Yep, still have to get them to my sister....{there's more Sarah...just not pictured..lol!} Whenever we'd make plans to get together...we were hospitalized, or someone wasn't feeling well {since Maci can't be around illness}, so we've learned to not make a big deal out of  messed up holidays....who says you can't celebrate on the calendar day??

6) All the chemo Maci has and still is receiving...can cause nausea...and make her sick. We've been lucky apparently to not have too much 'mess' {i.e. vomiting and diarrhea}. I learned this trick from another mom who's child receives chemo....sniff alcohol {wipes work just fine} to relieve the nausea! I've tried it myself, for nausea...IT WORKS!! Whatever properties that are in the alcohol over powers and settles the stomach...{at least it worked for us...and the other mom's child}

7) Maci is a picky eater!! We almost had her eating pretty good, before the diagnose. But, with all the medicines, steroids, etc. She reverted! Can't knock us until you've experienced the affect of steroids. If you or your child was on steroids, and you were able to overcome the urges and cravings please advise!! But what Maci craved was cheese and pasta. Very nutritious!! I'm not hardcore on nutrition..but I do enjoy cooking and shopping for organic and natural ingredients as much as budget and availability allows. Anyway, my mom got us a juicer, so we've been able to get Maci to LOVE juice!!! We can juice sooo much nutrition into a glass..and she'll drink it! So we've been  juicing at least once a day. We've all pretty much found what combinations work for our taste buds...and the girls enjoy helping! We've learned to not go by what it looks like {color} haha! To date, the nastiest in color, have been the BEST tasting!!

8) I've become very thankful for my phone & the apps!!! LOL! It has helped pass many hours in bed at the hospital and home...Maci's favorites have been Barbie fashionistas, and a baking game {thanks Monica for the recommendations!!!}

8) Maci has always been an artistic person, but here is an example of some of her recent 'creations'- Her bobby pin dolly!!

9) I've had to learn to put MY dreams on hold....{selfishness!!} Trying to learn to be less me, more others {& God}. For instance, we were wanting to go to Paris in a couple of years {our 10th anniversary}...but I've learned that Paris isn't going anywhere!! It'll still be available when we're ready to take it by storm!! In the meantime I'll just enjoy looking at pictures and little reminders...

10) Lastly, I've learned that my baby really is AMAZING!!! {Thanks to Zia who got this sign for Maci!! Ever since Maci was born, she's called her 'Grace'}

That's all for today!!! {BTW incase you read both my blogs..I'll posting this over there also!!}

Have a blessed weekend!!

Hugs,
~*Jessica

...from the heart...

Happy New Years,
{I know it's a little late}

I wanted to share this post that I wrote on Maci's blog.  {to read it please follow the link}

I can't shake my feelings about all this.

I feel that this year, will be a year of CHANGE.

CHANGE?

Yes, CHANGE for ME!

How?

I want to CHANGE how I think about things.

I want to become much more of a giver.

Less of ME. MORE of others.

Right now, our family is in a very difficult spot in our life.

I don't know what tomorrow holds,

Yet... I know who holds tomorrow!

What a promise.

At a time in my life where I can't control much, I can control how I view the situations life gives me!

I am hopeful, that this year is going to be a good one! {not easy! but why not make it good??}

A year with:
  • Growth
  • Strength
  • Survival

I honestly have so much to be thankful for!!!

This song really shows how I feel..

I want more love and power from Him in my life.

Happy New Year!!

May God Bless You All!!!

My Baby!

I don't normally post 'people' pictures on here {I save them for FB & Maci's blog}

But I came across this photo in my computer, just a little bit ago. Maybe I am missing Maci's beautiful hair??

{Again special thanks to the wonderful photographer that donated these pictures, these were taken back in September!  They mean more now than ever!!}

She's such a dollie! We are about to spend some quality time together the next 3 days...in the hospital. We are scheduled to receive a big chemo, along with the fluids to  help 'flush' it out of her system. You can look up her blog for more information I wrote about it.

On Friday, she has an EEG scheduled {more info again on her blog}, to see if she has seizures. We've been noticing some strange 'staring' spells. The doctor wants to be sure.

{This was taken last week}

Not much decorating going around here, just trying to get ready the best we can for the holidays. {I am praying we aren't in the hospital} Crafting, cooking, baking!! Oh and we are fighting the sick bug too!!!

Thank you for all your prayers and support! Overall we are just happy to be here, and to have our beautiful little girl still with us.

God is good!!

Thankfulness

I'm sure all of us can find something to be thankful for.

I try to be thankful all year long, but this set aside time of year, most of us tend to be more reflective.

The Psalmist wrote:

O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

It must've been so powerful that the very next verse was:

O give thanks unto the God of gods: for his mercy endureth for ever.

Yet it still was repeated again:

O give thanks unto the Lord of lords: for his mercy endureth for ever.

Yes, and again:

O give thanks unto the God of heaven: for his mercy endureth for ever.

There is so many wonderful passages of scripture from the Bible that are dedicated to being thankful.
I hope I can be thankful for my blessings throughout the year, but especially this time of year, I have so much to be thankful for!

Here are some highlights:

I am thankful for Jesus. He has been my dearest and best friend.
I am thankful for my family. For life, health and strength.
I am thankful for my daughter, she has taught me so much {even though under some circumstances, I still am learning!!}
I am thankful for my friends and church family. What an awesome support group.
I am thankful for my heritage.
I am thankful for the ability to love and reach out to others.
I am extremely thankful for the support we've received from unknown/unnamed sources {if that makes sense!}
.... and I would never thought I would say this 5 months ago, but I am thankful to be chosen to endure this journey. What a testimony!

Today was clinic. Maci received her second dose of doxorubicin, and her normal dose of vincristine. She gets a break until next Wednesday morning from steroids.

She sure has been craving a lot of grilled cheese sandwiches! Resulting in her gaining 2.5 lbs in one week!!

Next week will be the same as today's schedule, along with following the next Monday, Dec 5th, her MRI.

I also want to thank all of you for continuing to read this blog!

Happy Thanksgiving to All!!!

Few {minor} Changes & Goodbye Fall!

I don't know why I am writing a 'goodbye' fall post...maybe it's because I never really posted anything about it {except to show you the mantle}, so I lit a 'fire', turned on the lamps, fluffed a few pillows, tweaked a little, so here you go!

I am super excited to decorate for winter next week. I try to wait until after Thanksgiving has passed before I put out Christmas & Winter themed decor. I've found a lot of ideas, and I'm excited to put stuff out!

This joined the living room a couple of days ago. My mom brought it over for the girls to play with. It normally would go downstairs, but since it's a basement, it's fine here for a while. If you would like updates on Maci, please feel free to follow along on her blog.

If you've read {or for the lack of posting...the last couple of posts}, I am now home for a long extended period of time taking care of my little girl...I am redecorating my house!!
BUT it's a fun challenge. I've been accused of hoarderizing for the past *ahem* well long time. I've thrifted, junked, garage saled, been given, 'borrowed', things that I've put up for a while now.
Now that I'm home, I have been dragging myself and my hubby all around the house doing projects.
I also mentioned in my last post or so that I thought we were going to have to move.
Well, we don't!! The owner of our home graciously has reduced our rent in half, so we didn't move!! Thank you Jesus!!!
Maci is doing pretty good, considering the circumstances. For her story, and updates you can visit her blog here.

Back to my decorating projects, I have been sewing, painting (not the walls), recovering, and hammering like crazy (well Josh has, but I've been directing!)
As soon as I get some more finished, I will post pictures for you to see! I am pretty excited about it!!

Don't forget head over to Linda's to enter that giveaway!
Happy Weekend!!

New Plans....

Since things in our life has changed drastically this past week....it's probably a good thing we didn't buy a house and get locked into anything. Sooooo...since we will still have to move out of the house we are currently living in (with me now not working anymore, our income has...ahem...changed too!) So I will definately be doing the apartment thing for the next few months until Maci's better, and I will be able to work again.

These are kinda for inspiration for me...but if you'd like to look at it too...you're welcome to!!
I have everything for home right now, but I am someone who loves a nicely painted wall. I can't help it.
I'm also one who doens't know how to do anything but with allllot of color! So...all my stuff now?

Yuppers....PAINT!!! I'll just paint my furniture to get the colors I want in my 'temp' living situations...if that makes any sense.

{Check out that fixture!!}

Fun! I always enjoy a good excuse to get to decorating!

If you would like to follow Maci's progress, please visit her little blog:

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

xoxo
