Kitchen Update..It Gets Uglier Before It Gets Better

Okay, so we started kitchen demo last week. Yes, it took us almost 3 weeks to come to agreements on what we were going to do first, and get everything organized in our heads.

So here is what we started with:

So this what we have left of our kitchen!!! 

We left our sink in until later this week, when our new faucet arrives for our new sink.

All the mess is a little overwhelming, but we are surviving-

Today, the flooring is coming out. When we removed some of the cabinetry, we found out that the original hardwood was underneath!!! Wahoo! (yes, more hardwood refinishing is in our very near future!)

I'll be back tomorrow on how we are removing the two layers of sub flooring....and 3 different linoleums.

Living Room & Spring

I wasn't planning on showing this, because I don't like the way it's arranged right now...it just doesn't seem to flow for me, but due to lack of being lazy wanting to move things around, I'm afraid it'll be this way for awhile!!

I picked up some grocery store tulips the other day. It's amazing what a little vase of flowers will do for your decor!! {hence my only bit of 'spring' touches}

{Special thanks to my new friend, Rachel, for this column!! I LOVE it!! Can't wait to change this loveseat in front of it...I do have dreams for it....and yes, it will be losing that blanket soon....it's just so cozy!}

We are back safe and sound from our Make A Wish trip to Disneyworld. None of us had ever been to Florida, or Disney {Josh has been to Disneyland a couple of times}.

We had such an awesome time!!!

I posted on Maci's blog a few phone pictures. I have yet to go through the few hundreds on my camera....ahh some day!! :)

Kitchen Sink Love

I have never really posted anything, or shown for that matter, much about my kitchen.....well because....it's kinda , not really, embarrassing??? The cabinets are worse than from 50's/60's era. They are two tone, white frames and that orange-ish wood stain doors. Yeah...hot! I'm thankful though, that they are all intact, clean, and serviceable, along with matching door knobs/pulls. They just aren't....current??

But that doesn't stop me from trying to make my tiny kitchen cute-ish....right?

I've got these little shelves on either side of the kitchen sink, that are fun to set things on, and a big bright window layout.

I really am being honest. I'm super thankful for my windows here! They were replaced not very long ago, and they open up, instead of slide open!! {I know I'm weird}
Back to the kitchen sink area, it facing the front of the house, and its one of those corner dealios:

It needs some love!!!

Do you sometimes think all the things we tweak and decorate so we can do this in style?

I am sharing some inspiration, for some simple tweaking,  I found this morning on pinterest, {I've added more fun onto my todo list!!}

There's so many more fun ones to look through, and some of these are a little busy, but I love what they've done around their kitchen sinks. I am severely limited as to what I can do, being it's a rental, but...I do have a few ideas in mind! I do know that the last photo is definitely my favorite!!


It's just finding the time, yes? I thought being a SAHM for a while, I would have all this free time on my hands...haha!!! Yeah right! Kids are more work than my customers!! Fun...but time consuming!

DIY Kitchen Canisters!!

Wowzers!! I can't believe I'm actually posting a 'real' myself post!! It's been like a gazillion years. If you are reading this and wondering what I'm talking about, hop over here to find out where I've been!

Anyways, I've been wanting canisters for my kitchen counters for a super long time. The problem? I never seemed to find anything that I liked, or could afford. 

Now, I know these clear glass jars aren't new to anyone...but hey! I don't know why it finally dawned on me to check them out...

I got three of them at Target for less than 25.00!! 

Now they didn't come with the labels on them! They obviously came plain jane!

I was looking on etsy, just browsing around, and some how came across these decals!! You can find them here. They took about 3 minutes to attach all of them, and I love how they turned out. (In case you were wondering why the labels don't read English...I'm weird and love French words...so I chose to have the contents spelled out in French!!) 

And to top it off....I was re organizing my dining room closet...and came across an old tea set. I thought these little china tea cups were pretty cute scooper-outers!! (If I can keep from breaking them, as they are pretty delicate).

My kitchen is pretty small, with near zero counter space. It's kinda a fun challenge to find attractive, yet functional pieces.

Butcher It!!!

Haha!! Gotcha!
Since I am in an almost constant daydream about designing my 'future/non existent ((yet))' kitchen, I thought I would share with you a mutual wish between my husband and I. {{A design 'dream' we both agree on!!-yay!!}}


Butcher Block!!


We both for some reason absolutely love the idea of incorporating butcher block somewhere in our future {yep, non existant} kitchen.
Right now we have an old butcher block that weighs more than my family put together on legs {like a table} at the restaurant (looks kinda like this)

for...some kind of stand-ish thing we put stuff on!!

Well we both love it {did I already say that??!!} and my parents have one that's similar to the one pictured above kinda just sitting there in their garage...waiting for me to scoop it up and put it to good use!!
